Port Aransas is a city in Nueces County, Texas, occupying the northern end of Mustang Island, a barrier island along the Gulf of Mexico. It is the only established town on Mustang Island and lies north of Padre Island, roughly 24 miles northeast of Corpus Christi and about 180 miles southeast of San Antonio. The 2020 census counted 2,904 permanent residents, though the town's population swells considerably with seasonal visitors.
